* ASSOCIATION STRUCTURE

Founded in 1982, its component come from different social, political, religious environments. Promote development activities for Third World people and works for a multi-racial and multi-ethnic society in Italy.
AMI operate in several branches :

• help : collection and sending of materials, funds, gifts for little projects in different countries.
• long distance adoptions (sponsorships) : collecting funds for maintaining Third World children, giving them the opportunity to study at school.
• Organizing meetings and cultural events to promote foreign cultures, using the SHANTHI magazine, too.

* FOREIGN COUNTRIES LINKS & OPERATING RULES :

AMI operates strictly related to government agencies only, in Italy and in the different countries. These agencies report notices about the children officially declared as 'abandoned' and 'destituted'. After the link to adoptive parents, done by these government agencies, AMI support the new adoptive family on the administrative issues and in documents collection and check. With the document ready, the adopting family will go directly to the foreign country to complete the adoption process locally, with the support of our local referees. The period needed to stay in the foreign country is different for every country, according to local rules and laws.

* ADOPTIVE FAMILY WELCOME AND TRAINING :

AMI organize meetings about to improve foreign countries knowledge (culture, social and economic situation) and psychological support meetings, open to families that already adopted children. Every new adoptive family will receive three addresses of couples with adopted children, in order to organize visits. The association offers the opportunity to meet adoptive families, and overall, the adopted children, in several situations.

* EXPENSES :

Association fee : EUR 60,00 per year. Both the adoptive parents should associate. Total costs for adoption : the association only ask for the direct technical costs ( phone, travel expenses ). The documents will be managed and prepared directly by the adoptive parents, and the related expenses will be directly paid by themselves. The total amount of expenses can vary depending on the foreign country involved.
